This ASATI super Sports Dome facility is now substantially approved for construction. This “first of its kind” world class Sports Dome will start construction by October or November 2009. ASATI is now under contract for the engineering and manufacturing of the dome and for all the site construction required to provide a turnkey operating facility for the investors of this project.

The land has been acquired and the site excavation is completed; all approvals are in final stage for building this “first of its kind,” year round, climate controlled baseball and multi-field Sports Dome.

The names of the high profiled sports professionals involved with this year round sports and training facility will soon be revealed.

This Sports Dome will not only be the “first of its kind” in the air structure industry, it will dwarf all air supported Sports Domes in existence worldwide.

ASATI STRUCTURE 400 FEET WIDE BY 670 FEET LONG BY 120 FEET HIGH

The building department and the Fire Marshalls of Connecticut now approve this huge project.  Investor’s financial commitments are in place and the site is now graded for construction. We expect to start the air structure site construction on October 2009, install the structure mechanicals in January or February 2010, followed up with 260,000 square feet of grass by March 2010, and have the dome up and ready to play April 2010 or sooner, depending on winter weather conditions.

The multi Sports Dome facility with 4 indoor baseball fields and 4 indoor soccer fields that convert to full size lacrosse and other multi-sports field activities, including a 10,000 square foot indoor clubhouse with a full management service center, locker rooms, classroom sports training center, 12 one-on-one training batting cages and a upper roof grandstands constructed above the clubhouse for viewing the entire sports facility and activities without obstructions.

DETAILS OF THE MAJOR MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

FOR THIS BASEBALL & MULTI SPORTS FACILITY

√ 432,000 sq. Ft. (10 acres), 32,000 yards of 32 oz/yard of Tedlar/PVC, UV and flame resistance structural outer fabric. This equates to approximately 10 acres of structural fabric.  The outer structural fabric envelope will weigh 96,000 lbs.  (43,000 tons). The fabric will be produced to ASATI specifications and provide over 1000 foot candles of light transmission into the dome from the natural outside daylight; even on a cloudy day, this 268,000sq. Ft. Sports Dome will be operated without the need of turning on one watt of its interior lighting system. The only time interior lighting will be turned on is after sundown. The fabric envelope fabric meets NFPA 701 fire resistance code requirements. Supported with federal fire test certifications.

√ 432,000 sq. Ft. Of interior pvc, UV and flame resistance rip-stop thermo liner will be welded to the exterior structural envelope for providing the insulated air space between the outer envelope and the interior insulation liner to reduce the cost of heating and air conditioning, while allowing the natural light transmission to travel thru the fabrics for providing natural lighted playing fields. This thermo liner fabric will add an additional 42,000 lbs (21,000 tons). The fabric will be produced to ASATI color and specifications, manufactured with extra sized rip stop fibers to prevent tear propagation. The thermo liner fabric will meet NFPA 701 fire resistance code requirements, and supported with federal fire test certifications.

√ 175,000 feet ½” coated to 9/16” of PVC UV resistant coated hot dipped galvanized cable. This cable will be pre-manufactured into a cable net system to conform to Donato Fraioli bias cable net patents.  This cable net system encapsulates the entire air structure envelope to allow the structure to be pressurized to support the maximum wind load and snow load called for by local code standards, without the reliance of melting the snow or requiring manual removal of snow from the roof. The high pressure needed for supporting these load conditions could never be satisfied by any other stress relief cabling system. To appreciate the abilities of ASATI’s unique cable, the net system allows higher pressure without causing strain on the fabric while supporting a design roof snow load of 2,700,000 lbs. = (13,550 tons).

400,000 watts  of Daft Hanglite’s ® each 1000 watt Hanglite® fixture will be hung from the interior roof and walls to provide a even distribution of 65 to 70 foot candles of indirect non-glare quality sports lighting onto all the sports fields. The Daft Hanglite ® system, developed and introduced to the air structure industry in mid 1980’s by Donato Fraioli Jr, has become the worldwide standard of the industry and is installed in sports facilities such as the NY Jets, NY Giants, Miami Dolphins and many more prestigious sports facilities around the world. The Daft Hanglite® system has become the choice of architects for high profiled sports facilities.

√ 6 HVAC units supplying a total of 15,000,000 btu’s of heat and 900 tons of air conditioning will be supplied to provide 65oF degree rise above outside winter cold temperature.  In the summer, the cooling system will maintain a 15oF drop from the outside ambient temperature. These units will have automatic controls to maintain controlled temperatures throughout the facility and to allow the structure to operate year round in a comfort-controlled environment.  The built in inflation units will provide the air changes to meet Sports facilities requirements. The air volume of this structure is 17,500,000 cubic feet of air. The inflation blower units will provide the cfm to produce in full air change per hour to provide a very healthy clean air environment. The ASATI air rotation system is a practice that has proven to be the best in the industry and applied to all high occupancy facilities engineered and constructed by ASATI. Each of the HVAC inflation systems will be backed up with an automatic start up system to generator electric for maintaining a safe operating facility at all times should a site power failure develop.

√ Entrances into the dome

20 emergency exits will be provided to keep an access distance between doors of no more the 100 feet apart to satisfy practices accepted by code officials.

2 main entrance revolving doors will be place in line with interior clubhouse for direct entrance to the management center for controlling all team players and team supporters.

2 ADA entrance and exiting doors will be adjacent to revolving door for wheel chair entrance and exiting or for those who require assistance.

1 truck airlock entrance for allowing long sporting systems to be delivered or removed from the Sports Dome.

√ 10,000 square foot clubouse

The clubhouse will contain the main reception and crowd control for all players and game viewers.

Locker rooms for boys/men and girls/women to change from street clothing to sports uniforms and lockers for safe storage of clothing and sports gear.

Food court for sports drinks, water, and quick snacks including juice bar.

Retail stores for supplying general sporting gear to meet the needs of the sporting activities within the Sports Dome.

A quiet area to view the field sports and score boards on large high definition TV’s while lounging in a quiet atmosphere.

Upper deck grandstand full view watching of all the fields of your choice and being part of the crowd noise and excitement generated by the stadium crowd.

√ 12 full size training batting cages with state of the art pitching machines and certified professional trainers. The batting cages will be centrally located to provide warm up exercises and stretching out while waiting for ball players to complete the games on the fields. This is a program to keep players ready for improved playing and to avoid injury by going onto the field without warm up.

√ Each baseball field will have a coach’s & team player box as well as a field box with seating for each teams family supporters.

√ Each baseball field will have a electronic score board with remote controls to keep scores updated from each coach’s box.

√ All of the baseball fields will be reached and entered by walking around the fields perimeter through a corridor that is curtained off from the playing fields. The divider corridor curtain provides each field with privacy from distractions from the traffic of other players and family supporters walking to their designated playing fields. Each field’s private spectator’s box and team players box will have numbered privacy doors for privacy control for the players and spectators assigned to each of the 4 baseball fields.

√ The 4 junior 180 ft. Baseball fields will be divided by safety nets that will automatically be stored away when the 4 fields are converted to two 230 ft. Fields. The two baseball fields will have a diagonal divider net t divide the two 230 ft. Fields. On special events, all curtains will automatically be lifted away and a full size 360-foot single baseball field will be available for professional play. All netting will be motorized for installing in place and removed as needed.

√ The full size soccer field and lacrosse field will be pre-market to convert into 4 junior size fields and have the same occupancy capacity as the 4 junior baseball fields.

√ The soccer/lacrosse/multi-sports fields will be in full view by all spectators from the 200 feet long second grandstand deck. Back-to-back grandstand seating will allow spectators and fans to watch over all the sports fields within the dome. Two executive suits and press boxes for the soccer games and for the baseball fields  will be located on the second deck for cablevision TV showing of special events.

√ Each soccer field will have scores for each of the fields recorded on a master scoreboard with team names.

√ The total cable net air structure systems materials, engineering and patents developed by Donato Fraioli incorporated into this facility have been evaluated and recommended by Boca. ASATI cable net structure exceeds the industries ASI-77 and ASCE air structure design standards and safety factors. All fabrics meet NFPA 701 and California Fire Marshall Code standards.
