Kinston Community Center - Oval Pool Dome

ASATI is thrilled to present one of our latest projects in Kinston, North Carolina. This stunning oval-shaped pool dome spans 17,250 square feet and serves as a seasonal haven for families and children to swim, play, and connect at the heart of the city’s community center.

Dimensions: 115’W x 150’L x 38’H, covering 17,250 sq. ft.

Design: An oval structure for a sleek, practical layout

Features: Heating system and R-4 thermal insulation for seasonal comfort

While it’s a smaller seasonal structure, it was engineered with a cable net system to withstand the region’s extreme wind loads.

What makes this project truly special is that it replaces an earlier ASATI structure, showcasing our commitment to long-term partnerships and innovation.

ASATI and City of Kinston Partnership through Sourcewell

The Kinston Community Center as able to partner with ASATI again for the replacement of the structure with the support Sourcewell, a cooperative purchasing organization that ASATI has been awarded a contract within the latest RFP. By handling the entire solicitation process—including RFP development, public notices, and contract awards—Sourcewell reduces administrative burdens for participating agencies, like the City of Kinston.

As a government entity, Sourcewell ensures that all contracts meet or exceed local and national procurement standards, providing access to all competitive solicitation and contract documentation.

ASATI Planning and Execution

As part of the upgrade, we not only replaced the outer membrane but also enhanced the HVAC system, significantly improving energy efficiency and climate control.

Every ASATI project is built on a foundation of meticulous planning and rigorous testing. For this oval dome, we created a scale model to test the inflation process in-house, ensuring flawless execution for such a unique shape. Our team carefully studied the local conditions along with all environmental factors, to deliver a structure that stands up to the challenges of the East Coast winds.
